BETTER THAN FRIED RICE

When you're cooking on a daily, one thing that's needed in your recipe repertoire is side dishes! When I think of the number of meals I cook, and most have a main protein then, the starch component, and veggies, I mean if I didn't switch things up every now and then it would be so dry and dull!

This recipe came about when I was making some honey garlic chicken, and I needed a rice dish to serve with it.  Now at that moment I was not in the mood for fried rice, nor did I want to just serve this with regular white rice. Both those options are fine, obviously, but I wanted something right in the middle. Something with flavor to compliment the chicken as well as the simplicity of plain white rice.

When I threw this together and we first had it I was in love!

This side dish guys, this right here takes it! It's so incredibly easy to throw together, the flavors remind me of a Japanese fried rice, and it requires very little effort.
